My friend's potential mission station was a 3-5 day journey from the nearest airport, not from the mileage but from the lack of roads. So he gave me a list of recommended items for spending the nights in, including tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag. He pointed me in a general direction stating the mission agency liked products from Ranger Joe's, Brigade Quartermasters, U.S. Cavalry, Campmor and Cabela's. Any items from military catalog's containing or displaying military endorsements needed to be modified to make the customs experience a little more user friendly. The military stores had gear that was light weight and quick to set up, but the items I tried to order where out of stock so my research continued as I looked for alternate options.
